{"id":764,"date":"2023-12-15T12:28:19","date_gmt":"2023-12-15T12:28:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/datadriven.novalaw.unl.pt\/?page_id=764"},"modified":"2023-12-15T12:28:19","modified_gmt":"2023-12-15T12:28:19","slug":"2nd-international-conference-of-the-jean-monnet-model-on-eu-insurance-law-challenges-in-the-sdgs-era","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/datadriven.novalaw.unl.pt\/?page_id=764","title":{"rendered":"2nd International Conference of the Jean Monnet Model\u00a0on EU Insurance Law: Challenges in the SDGs Era"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<p class=\"enter-content has-primary-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201c2st International Conference of the Jean Monnet European Insurance Law Module: Challenges in the Era of the SDGs\u201d will take place on July 11th and 12th 2024, in partnership with AIDA Portugal. <br><br>Coordinated by professors Margarida Lima Rego, Maria Elisabete Ramos and Marival Bolival \u00d5noro, the main objective of this annual conference is to&nbsp;create a forum&nbsp;where scholars, practitioners, non-governmental organizations, cooperative and social sector, and state agencies with an interest in insurance will&nbsp;meet and discuss topics that are of interest to all \u2013 with a focus on public policy recommendations on&nbsp;the role of insurance in fostering sustainable development goals. <br><br>It aims to contribute to the generation of knowledge and raise awareness as to the role of insurance for the equal enjoyment of human rights and the achievement of SDGs, in line with the core values of the European Union.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<p class=\"enter-content has-primary-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, this annual conference will be devoted to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Specifically, the overarching topic of this year\u2019s conference will be sustainable insurance \u2013 which is \u201ca strategic approach where&nbsp;all activities in the insurance value chain, including interactions with stakeholders, are done&nbsp;in a responsible and forward-looking way&nbsp;by identifying, assessing, managing and monitoring risks and opportunities associated with environmental, social and governance issues\u201d. In other words, \u201csustainable insurance&nbsp;aims to reduce risk, develop innovative solutions, improve business performance, and contribute to environmental, social and economic sustainability\u201d.<br><br>In this sense, other interventions exploring links between this noble goal and other SDG \u2013 notably&nbsp;7 (<em>Affordable and Clean Energy<\/em>), 9 (<em>Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure<\/em>), 11 (<em>Sustainable Cities and Communities<\/em>), and 12 (<em>Responsible Consumption and Production<\/em>) \u2013 are also welcomed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"enter-content has-primary-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">For this Conference, a call of papers is being held until 31st March 2024, which is the deadline for submission of abstracts. Successful applicants will be informed no later than 31st May 2024; and the deadline for submission of full papers and posters is 1st July 2024. All submissions should be sent by email to <em><strong>EUInsLSDG@novalaw.unl.pt.<\/strong><\/em><br><br>The conference fee is 100 euros. This fee will be reduced to 50 euros in case of remote participation. A special reduced fee of 50 euros will apply to members of AIDA.
